Congratulations to the Norquay Grade Seven Recorder Ensemble. They had an excellent year, performing challenging music at a very high standard. On June 27, the group travelled to Victoria for a day. They met Mr Colpitts and Mr Findlay at school at 5:45 a.m. and caught the 7:00 a.m. ferry to Schwartz Bay. They arrived in Victoria at 9:30, and, leaving their van at South Park School, visited the Provincial Museum. After the museum they had planned to have lunch at Beacon Hill Park, but it was raining! Mr. Findlay found them a place to eat on the steps outside the Victoria Convention Centre. After a quick walk through the Empress Hotel, they went to the IMAX Theatre to see a very interesting film about coral reef creatures. When they left the theatre, about 2:00, the weather had improved, so they went to the beach. It was a long walk along the coves and beaches. Angela won $2 because she had paid close attention during the BC Game, and then it was time to head for the ferry. They caught the 5:00 p.m. ferry and were back at Norquay at 7:15. Except for the rainy bits, it was a very good day. Thank you to Mr. Findlay, from General Wolfe School, for being our chauffeur. |
