Earth Day Bake Sale On Friday the 20th of April, Division 8, Ms Goodtrack's class, celebrated Earth day. They had a bake sale for a whole lunchhour, from 12:00 to 1:00pm. Before the big day, the whole class worked as a team to make the bake sale a success. First, each student, including the teacher, brought a homemade or bought treat to sell at the bake sale. Some students brought brownies, cookies, cupcakes, cakes and the other students brought candy, noodles, chips freezies, ding dongs and donuts. As everybody brought their treats, we got started on our bake sale posters. We all did posters and we taped them all over the school walls. Niza, Gurpreet, and Bella started to do announcements ever morning, telling when, where and why we were having a bake sale. They also told the Norquay students to start keeping their allowance for Friday the 20th. We and the whole school were excited for the bake sale. A few days before the bake sale, all the kids who got an A in math brought a cereal box to school. They got started on their cashier register. Cashier register is where we put all the money that we got when soemone bought something. Everyone in the class got a job. Some studnets were assigned to be cashiers - they had to hand out the food. Some studnets were salesmen and women and two girls were security guards. Finally, the big day was here. Everyone was excited, nervous, happy adn hyper. At 11:30 the whole class started eating their lunch. After finishing it the boys went with Ming (janitor) to set up the tables in the gym. As they did that, the girls started to deliver the food to the gym. We set up all the food and we put price tags with each category of food. At 12:00 everything was set up and the bake sale was set to go! When the lunch bell rang, a lineup appeared immediately. Customers started to come in and they looked around the tables. Customers kept on coming in and buying food. The chips and freezies were sold immediately. It was almost 1:00 and almost all the food was sold out. When the bell rang, we started to clean up. When we got to our class we started to count all the money we earned and it was $280.95. We had a party afterwards and we got to finish the leftover food. All the money was spent on buying trees for the Earth and for Earth Day. Don't forget trees is where we get our oxygen! by Jaspreet Garcha |
