On Dance Week I learned a lot of cool dance moves like the square
and the twist. Our dance instructor's name was Ms Joanne Fetchko.
We started Dance Week on April 23. Our dance presentation was on
April 27. I hope the intermediates watch us on the Norquay website.
I wish we would have danced on a real stage. That would be neat
- with a real audience! I felt nervous at first because the audience
had parents in it but I was the leader on the last row. It felt
just like practice. It was fun. I wish I could do it again! April 23 to 27 was the Primary Dance Week. Joanne Fetchko was
the dance teacher. We did some exercise before practising dance.
Kindergarten to Grade 3 were practising dance from April 23 to 27.
It was kind of fun. On Friday we did the dance that were were practising.
A lot of parents came to watch the dance at 2:00. The dance was
in the gym. Our class was paired up with Mrs. Smith's class. When
we were practising dance, our class and Mrs. Smith's class were
in four groups. The song for our dance was "Ease On Down the
Road". The Primary Dance Week was from April 23 to 27. That week a dance
instructor named Joanne Fetchko came to teach the primary students
(K-3) dance moves. We had only four days to learn the dance because
on Friday it was the dance presentation. The music that our class
and Mrs. Smith's class danced to was "Ease On Down the Road".
When it was time for the presentation for the paretns to see, I
suddenly felt scared because there were hundreds of parents and
grandparents watching us! Anyway, it was a fantastic week! When we got in the big gym, Joanne taught us some
stretches. Then she showed us our first step in the dance. We ran
around in the circle 24 skips. Then we go in and out four times
and clap. Then we put our left foot in shake it, then we take our
right foot out and tap it on the floor. Then we move our hips and
shake out hand up four times, and down four times. We ran around
get in a straight line and go forward, clap!!!...And backward clap!!!...Then
we do a square and swing our hand right to left three times. Then
we did hands side to side while we were bouncing. Then we bound
and skipped to our places. Our class and Mrs. Smith's class went down to the gym from April
23 to 27 for a dance. First, we did some exercises, then we did
the dance. There were a lot of parts we had to work on. The first
part was to skip until we were done counting 24, and then we went
in circles and counted four, and we went in the circle and counted
four, and we clapped on the count of four. Then we kicked a little
with our left foot and we kicked a little with our right foot. Our
dance teacher is called Joanne Fetchko. The second part was to skip
from a circle to a straight line. That was hard because I was the
leader!!! Then we went forward and clapped on the count of four.
We did that that three times and then we jumped. We did a bouncy
part where we had to stretch our arms. Then we did a boxing move.
It reminded me of a movie called "Jump In". And then we
bow. We skipped off and that was the end of our dance. I saw my
grandparents. I felt very comfortable doing this dance. Well, that
is all. See you next time. |
