We had two Remembrance Day assemblies at Norquay on November 10, the first at 9:45 for the primary classes and then at 10:45 for the intermediate classes. The Grade Seven Recorder Ensemble played music as the students entered the gym silently. After O Canada, Mrs. Hughes spoke to the students about the meaning of this special day. The 6/7 Choir sang "Durme, Durme" and then Cheryl Sing, Angela Shen and Cindy Hoang from Division One recited "Lest We Forget". Ten students from Division Two recited "In Flanders Fields" and the Choir sang "Remembrance Day Child" followed by "Grant Us Peace". We all stood silently during the bugle calls and the minute of silence. Then the classes filed out of the gym while the Recorder Ensemble played. |

Below are five of the many posters about Remembrance Day and the Battle of Vimy Ridge that were on display in the gym during the assembly. |
